A little background on why I named this blog what I did.

I should probably do a little explaining on my title of this blog. First my last name is White. Therefore I live in the "White House." Living in the "White House" makes me the 1st Lady. My physical address says I live in Westwood Ca. (not the one by Los Angeles) but a little mountain town in Northeastern Ca. However I really live in a section out of Westwood known as Pinetown. With all the joking going on between my friends, I inevitably became Pinetowns 1st Lady living in the "White House." With all that said, this is just going to be a more personal blog of my life here in Westwood/Pinetown. My family and friends being a big part of it.
Originally I really wanted to take a picture a day for one year and post it on this blog. Perhaps like a photo diary. My life though is quite quiet and perhaps is not photo worthy for a picture a day but I plan on trying. So why not hop in and take a ride with me through little mountain town U.S.A. You may just love it as much as I do!

Now a reality

On December 28th of last year I wrote a post entitled "My biggest fear realized".
I tried to get a couple of laughs out of it. It was about my fear of the well over 100 year old pine tree that sits right next to my house breaking a limb and crashing onto the house, or worse yet onto some one.
Well it sort of happened, (not hurting the house or anyone else) I looked up into the tree yesterday when I noticed a branch of brown. Upon closer examination I threw myself into a frenzy!
Hanging above our roof was a broken branch that was NOT the size of a pick up stick. Here are some pictures of what we are dealing with on labor day weekend no less.

This is a picture of one of the branches that had snapped and was laying on branches below it!

Just to show how big this tree is!

I could not get a picture of the tangled mess we have up there. With these photos I can only really show you how big this massive pine tree is.
At the moment my hubby and I are having words, as he wants to climb up there and cut down our problems. I am seriously against it! It is far too high.

Green amongst white

Green, by far my favorite color, at least if I were asked what my favorite color was I would without hesitation say green, although I may follow it with, "but red comes in a close second."
The picture(s) I chose for today came because my hubby and I had just came back from the store and I noticed what I thought would be very beautiful pictures, due to the sun, and the snow.
However it was not a spot we could just pull the car over and take pictures,
(although I did have my camera with me! =1 point Allison, LOL!!!)

So I opted for a ride home and I decided to walk back to the spot.

On the way I saw what will now become my picture(s) of the day. Greens, all different shades of greens sticking out from the pureness of the color white surrounding them.
These are my pictures of the day!
This scene is simply on the right hand side of my street when you come into the "town" of Pinetown from Westwood.
Beautiful, is it not???
As usual (and I am beginning to say this on every post) I like saving my favorite for last and this one is it. To me it looks as if it could be a frozen lake.

My "Lucky Day"

Everybody has their own idea on what is pleasant to the eyes in life and in photography. For the most part I probably am considered on the weird side. Like I really liked the picture I took of the press the other day. A press of all things but I liked it. Today's post is what I am going to call a lucky day when it comes to the picture(s) for me. Starting with a simple walk around the block I noticed the sun hitting this group of trees just right (in my eyes). And like I said in the beginning we all have what we as a person consider their favorites. These today, on "a lucky day" is what I find appealing to the eye.

I actually took 67 pictures of this scene today and I liked most of them sooo much that it took half the night to bring them all down to these 4.

I just LOVE the sun rays in this one
And this one also
But as usual I like to save my favorite for last, and there's just something about this one that "Speaks to me"

The "White Stuff "at the "White House"

This is what we woke to this morning. They said we were going to get hit hard and they were right, (whoever they are) LOL!!! The wind blew like crazy all night long and the big Pine tree you can see in the front yard across the street was so heavy laden with snow I was sure a couple of her branches were going to break under the weight of this wet snow.

This too I thought was a trip to see the telephone wires so full of the "white stuff"
There is going to be a tremendous amount of digging to do if anyone needs to go somewhere.

A raking I will do Day 45

Beautiful day. Wow today was and is such a beautiful day. No wind, the sun is out and warming on the body. The type of day that makes you forget for a moment that winter is coming. So my post today is about what windy, really windy days can make you do on a beautiful day such as this! Bitch, Bitch, Bitch.
Up above is my tree in my back yard. I do realize it is a little on the small side and I should not bitch about the few pine needles I had to rake today!
After all it IS a beautiful day!
There are so many things in this world to be thankful for, like the fact I am able to see to write this post or that my fingers are able to write this post, or that my body is still able to rake these pine needles so that I can write this post.

All of a sudden all these pine needles don't seem all that threatening!
So perhaps I should quit my bitching!!!

A storm coming perhaps? Day 17

Well lo'and behold. It looks as though we may just have a storm coming in after all. This is out the back door of the "White House" and the little town in the distance is Westwood. Maybe that can give you an idea of where I live in respect to Westwood. I absolutely love our skies when a storm is approaching. It is always so beautiful as long as it stays away a bit, but it is a whole different story for me when it comes close. It just makes the hair on my head stand up. I have a real phobia about the big pine tree we have in our back yard. I am always so sure it is going to be struck by lightning. When you look around my neighborhood you can see where a lot of these pines in peoples yards have been struck. For me it is down right scary. It can make me afraid, very, very afraid

View Larger Map This is where I live. To the right of Westwood barely visible is the little section I live in called Pinetown. We have probably 150 to 200 people for our population. Westwood on the other hand is HUGE by comparison with a population of around 2000!
