A little background on why I named this blog what I did.

I should probably do a little explaining on my title of this blog. First my last name is White. Therefore I live in the "White House." Living in the "White House" makes me the 1st Lady. My physical address says I live in Westwood Ca. (not the one by Los Angeles) but a little mountain town in Northeastern Ca. However I really live in a section out of Westwood known as Pinetown. With all the joking going on between my friends, I inevitably became Pinetowns 1st Lady living in the "White House." With all that said, this is just going to be a more personal blog of my life here in Westwood/Pinetown. My family and friends being a big part of it.
Originally I really wanted to take a picture a day for one year and post it on this blog. Perhaps like a photo diary. My life though is quite quiet and perhaps is not photo worthy for a picture a day but I plan on trying. So why not hop in and take a ride with me through little mountain town U.S.A. You may just love it as much as I do!

The calendar says it is still summer. The meadows are showing Autumn (along with the weather)

Walk with me?

Beautiful day we have here in Westwood/Pinetown Ca 96137 for sure. Here it is January 18th and the sun is out and has been out for awhile now. It has been getting into the 50's in the day here.
Today I thought I would search around the mill pond for my picture(s) today, yet once I started walking it is still quite difficult do to the snow still on the ground. So instead of just one theme for my picture(s) today I thought I would show what I saw on a very small walk on this beautiful day!
The colrs of the manzanita and the willows still reminds me of autumn,
Turn around at the same spot and you see winter and just LOOK at that MORE than blue sky! Wow!!!

And a long forgot ball . It has been here for awhile.
So that was my walk, I am glad you joined me!
PEACE!!!

Autumn colors on a winter day

Autumn colors seemed to come out today on January 9th of 2009. Not something I really recall seeing in the past January's in Westwood/Pinetown, at least not this brilliant in color, or perhaps it was with the help of the sun on this more than bright sunshiny day in January! It was quite easy to decide what pictures I would be posting today!

Ahhhh but this was something I have been trying to do with my little camera since I bought it a little over a year and a half ago. I wanted a full moon, at the time I took this last night, google claimed it was 98% full.I have tried this shot to numerous to count. My moons are never round, I m not steady enough and the camera really is not meant for this kind of picture taking, and I do not have a tri-pod. I was absolutely thrilled shitless when this one came out so well. I took a couple dozen and only this one came out.
So I would like to share it here. I am so thrilled with it.
It must have been luck.

I have tried way too many other times and it did not work to be anything but LUCK.
I will take LUCK!!!
I did not do anything with this picture on Picasso, no adding light,  none of that. This is exactly how it came out.

It's weird, because I AM beginning to think that perhaps the moon IS ROUND after-all.
Because up to tonight, the moons I see in my camera lens don't ever resemble a circle, LOL!!!

The colors of Pinetown Ca, 96137 Day 57

Yesterday as I walked to my son and his girlfriends new house they are moving into, I forgot to bring my camera. Yes I was shocked also LOL!!! But what I had passed on that walk was something I knew I just had to come back today and take pictures of. This is on my street at the end of it and overlooking the town of Westwood, Ca. 96137. I don't think I have to explain anymore. The colors are so vibrant, so gorgeous, that I just stood there for quite awhile taking it all in.
They say a storm is coming with snow, and soon. Today's beauty perhaps is that calm before the storm. Then these would be pictures laid out in a blanket of white!

Gosh I love the beauty that surrounds me here. And as I was walking I was listening to the ducks and /or the geese saying what they have to say as I believe today is the first day of hunting season, and tomorrow morning I am sure I will be awoke to the sounds of gunshots at dawn as the hunters will be out.
Also as very much as I love animals and birds and such, those gunshots are not ones aimed at human beings as you can hear in so many city's throughout the U.S.A. and for that, I am VERY thankful!

Lassen County in the fall - Day 36

Another beautiful day here in Lassen County . the weather is beautiful. My outdoor/indoor thermometer read 36 degrees outside when I woke up. Cold enough to get that wood stove burning some more. Just enough to take the chill out of the house. Then as the sun proceeded to throw herself on my front porch , the doors were opened and that wonderful smell of good old fashioned clean air (from the rain) was so welcoming.I love this time of year, all the trees leaves are showing off and giving us their majestic show of colors.
I have learned living here this is the time of year to take your last comfortable walks and just inhale the beauty that surrounds you. It normally will not be long now till the beauty that surrounds around here is in shades of white, with newly fallen snow. So it's time to take that walk and bring in what mother nature gives you for just a short time up here and enjoy! enjoy! enjoy! and that is what we did!
Buick and Nala and I took a walk amongst the trees and the chipmunks,
savoring what I only know and that is this won't be happening very much longer where the dogs and I take our favorite route of our favorite walk up here
It will not be until next spring before we will be able to walk these trails again!

View Larger Map This is where I live. To the right of Westwood barely visible is the little section I live in called Pinetown. We have probably 150 to 200 people for our population. Westwood on the other hand is HUGE by comparison with a population of around 2000!
