A little background on why I named this blog what I did.

I should probably do a little explaining on my title of this blog. First my last name is White. Therefore I live in the "White House." Living in the "White House" makes me the 1st Lady. My physical address says I live in Westwood Ca. (not the one by Los Angeles) but a little mountain town in Northeastern Ca. However I really live in a section out of Westwood known as Pinetown. With all the joking going on between my friends, I inevitably became Pinetowns 1st Lady living in the "White House." With all that said, this is just going to be a more personal blog of my life here in Westwood/Pinetown. My family and friends being a big part of it.
Originally I really wanted to take a picture a day for one year and post it on this blog. Perhaps like a photo diary. My life though is quite quiet and perhaps is not photo worthy for a picture a day but I plan on trying. So why not hop in and take a ride with me through little mountain town U.S.A. You may just love it as much as I do!

Allison

Why has she not checked on her geese!

Has anyone wondered yet why I have not checked on my geese yet? I know I have ! LOL!!! Yes here I go again.

They did not seem to be afraid of me,

I think they missed me. I think the one on the right is telling the one on the left "Hey, There she is! She's baaaaack! Let's do some exceptional posing for her!"

And they did!

Sunset over Dyer

Sunset over Dyer Mountain. Cool, or more like cold evening, I still thought this was quite pretty. So I snapped these pictures for my picture(s) of the day.

A few hundred miles away, under the same sunset in the same state, unbeknownst to me, there were identical twin girls being born in my family. My nephew and his gal Jenn gave birth to Irelynn Aspen and Lily Rose making me a great aunt for the first time and my brother and his wife first time grandparents! Although a bit premature, Irelynn and Lily each weighed more than 4 lbs.
This (as all births are) is quite an exciting event. There has not been any twins born on my side of the family that any of us know of, however by what I understand, Jenns side of the family has seen a few sets.
I have always said that this blog that for the most part really does not have anything in it that would interest the average blog reader, unless you are or have been from this area. BUT it is times like these that I can sneak in such wonderful news due to the type of blog it is.
And todays news feels really GREAT!!!
Happy Birthday to Irelynn Aspen and Lily Rose!

A Sunset over Dyer Mountain

Wow, I am starting to feel a little on the lucky side again, as I am really happy with these 2 pictures.
Yet the truth is, I think I am simply beginning (after a year and a half, YIKES!!!) to truly understand the ways this camera works and all that can be done with it.
And I do believe I have definitely learned a bit about mother nature and her light.
So I guess it is a give and take and learn and learn some more!

These 2 pictures are taken overlooking the Mill Pond

towards Dyer Mountain.
Ahhh ,
Could there be anyone out there that could not understand why I love living here as far as the natural beauty goes?
Beautiful

A walk around "the little block"

Geographically our house is the last one on the street, yet it winds itself around in a little 1/4 mile circle. I love the location of this house, I don't think I would pick another lot if it were up to me. In an ongoing effort to get my hubby out of the house more, I am laying the new years resolution guilt trip on him. So far it has worked. I have got him going with me on two of the last three days for these pictures for this blog. That's good right?
I have to say and admit I was rather surprised today when I asked him to take the walk described above, (I call it the "little block" when referring to it at home) with me today.
Why?
Because the thermometer never once today went above 22 degrees. Even though it was absolutely gorgeous outside it was colder than cold. The wind was blowing just enough to remind you that you have ears and hands and also fingers for just a very short time. After that you aren't sure you have them at all!
So here's my pics for today, a VERY beautiful day!

This is over looking Dyer Mountain, directly behind our house on "the little block"

And this is just a bit further actually over looking the town of Westwood, Ca. 96137

Icicles

Opening my bedroom window and looking out towards Dyer Mountain I thought these icicles looked really pretty with our pine tree as the back drop. So this is my picture(s) for today!
You can tell they are already starting to melt, but the weather report for tonight claims that it is going to be the coldest night of this whole year. So we will see.
Matter of fact after writing this right now, I think I better go turn on all our water taps to let them drip tonight. There just is not anything much more of a pain in the ass than frozen pipes!!!

View Larger Map This is where I live. To the right of Westwood barely visible is the little section I live in called Pinetown. We have probably 150 to 200 people for our population. Westwood on the other hand is HUGE by comparison with a population of around 2000!
