A little background on why I named this blog what I did.

I should probably do a little explaining on my title of this blog. First my last name is White. Therefore I live in the "White House." Living in the "White House" makes me the 1st Lady. My physical address says I live in Westwood Ca. (not the one by Los Angeles) but a little mountain town in Northeastern Ca. However I really live in a section out of Westwood known as Pinetown. With all the joking going on between my friends, I inevitably became Pinetowns 1st Lady living in the "White House." With all that said, this is just going to be a more personal blog of my life here in Westwood/Pinetown. My family and friends being a big part of it.
Originally I really wanted to take a picture a day for one year and post it on this blog. Perhaps like a photo diary. My life though is quite quiet and perhaps is not photo worthy for a picture a day but I plan on trying. So why not hop in and take a ride with me through little mountain town U.S.A. You may just love it as much as I do!

Mellow Yellow Monday, I got what I had asked for.

MellowYellowBadge
For a week I have been on the look out for yellow. Searching, investigating, exploring. In pursuit of the elusive yellow in my surroundings. You might even say I have been on a true "yellow" vision quest.

Finding nothing except for a yellow school zone sign that was covered in snow, therefore no longer yellow but mainly white with a bit of yellow sticking out and no indication of what this sign even said I decided it was over, done, through, beyond my reach, end of story. I had been got by the color yellow. It won. I lost.

Laying my head down to sleep, I prayed the lord my soul to keep, (and I also just for the heck of it asked if he would steer me to the color yellow in the morning since I was running out of time.) Since I have never ever asked such a thing before I really did not think he would mind.

There's a saying somewhere that goes something like this; Watch what you ask for you just may get it.

Well I got it!

In the form of the biggest snow storm of the winter. I was awakened by the sound of rolling thunder, when looking out my window, I see yellow, alright, in the form of a grader made for plowing snow.

For a whole lot of yellow and a whole lot of pictures head on over to Mellow Yellow Monday. The link is below

Little girl thrills!

Something about trains is enticing to me. For as long as I can remember whenever I have seen one, if possible I would try to get as close as I could. Perhaps starting with my older brothers who had a Lionel Train set, set up in their bedroom that was STRICTLY off limits by them from their only other sibling, a little sister that was 8 and 10 years younger than they were. There were times however in my young life I remember sneaking into their bedroom while they were at school just admiring and staring at this wonderful toy with bells and whistles and noise and such.

And those feelings have never left me. Today on the way to the post office we find ourselves the first in line of the lowering arms at our railroad crossing of the impending passing by of a train. I stated to my hubby how I wish I could get my camera out and focused for pictures of this train, for my picture(s) of the day. I figured I did not have the time but still got out of the car with the intent of a good try. Then I saw the 3 engines in the front and it was on!!! I knew I was going to get a shot or two.

The vehicles waiting for the train to pass were piling up behind us, when I heard the sound of it applying it's brakes. Could it be that this monster of a train that all others behind us were surely swareing at by now, going to stop before me and my camera for a perfect photo opportunity for the train lover in me?

So I was able to run up the tracks and take these pics of what most people call graffitti, but I call art and am so very thankful for it.

I almost felt like "The Face Melter" as stated above. I was grinning from ear to ear .

And I think it would be so cool to be ABBIE and read this painted term of endearment birthday wish rushing past me along the rails!

This picture is at the tracks that cross over Mooney Road between Pinetown and Westwood, Ca. 96137

I have been walking on the railroad (tracks) Day 79

Off today I go, knowing exactly where and with what intentions for my picture(s) of the day will be. Absolutely beautiful day here in Westwood, I was welcoming the walk to town along with being thankful for the benefits! Fresh air, warmth on my back. The solitude I am finding because of this blog, again was an unexpected surprise. The walks with no-one except me there, enjoying the things I do so delight in. (Like today I heard a bunch of frogs) I love frogs, and they seemed to have vanished from around here these last few years. I not only don't see them, I never hear them any more! Friends and aquaintances that see me walking asking if I want a lift. So far except once by Mrs. Q on voting day I have declined. We will see if I decline so easily in the dead of winter LOL! So without further ado, I give to you a little piece of the westwood R.R. and I do not mean R&R. LOL!!!
From Ash Street.

Getting close to the tracks. Just look at those blades in front!

And from behind

In case you can not read below the numbers, it says Rotary Snowplow Power Plant, something I need and want to look into further

Sooo pretty, don't you think?

I wish it could be seen better, but the white sign on the right says Westwood as these tracks start to turn the corner.

View Larger Map This is where I live. To the right of Westwood barely visible is the little section I live in called Pinetown. We have probably 150 to 200 people for our population. Westwood on the other hand is HUGE by comparison with a population of around 2000!
