Look closely

Hummingbirds are still here and looking for that food. Much better than the other birds that are beginning to find my apples!

 

Can you see him on the left hovering around the feeder?

 

I like this shot. The wings and tail is blurry but the eye stands out!

Applesauce anyone

Ever since I moved into this house (May 02) Dave's apple tree out front grew a ton of apples. Sooo many that an awful lot went to waste. They also can make a mess. 3 seasons ago Dave pruned our apple tree, to the point I figured he murdered it. Not an apple in it for the last 2 years. All it was good for was my hummingbirds and my little chickadee's.
Ahhh, but not this year!!!
We have a ton of apples growing. I thought that these 2 branches almost looked like a bunch of banana's (the shape) rather than an apple tree.

Signs of spring

Overkill it may be called, quite frankly it makes no never mind to me. While other blogs have got to take and post pictures of the beauty of spring, here I sit on May 8th just beginning to be able to do so.So I am. First of the flower I posted yesterday that is just as beautiful today and one of my humming birds that are visiting my feeder. Yes I have named them all and this one's name is Flipper. I will explain w/pics one day soon. So for today I am enjoying my chance to post a bit of spring!

An orange hummer, whoa!

An orange hummingbird at my feeder. I have never seen an orange one before. I waited all day hoping he would come along again, he did not. I was so astounded by this litle guy I have actually named him. LOL!!!

Camera Critters and a hummer

This is rather an odd colored hummingbird for around here. Never seen one with just a "beard" (for lack of a better word) of red on it's throat like this.

I have decided to post this also for Camera Critters as this was going to be my post for today on this blog any how. I thought his odd coloring of him was worth posting, and perhaps someone may know what kind of hummingbird this is. I live in northern Ca. in the mountains.

Watery Wednesday and a mini feathered friend

Watery Wednesday is one of my favorite memes, however it has been a few weeks now since I got to play. Just haven't had a Watery Wednesday in my life, ya know? LOL!
Out and about on this day with our scorching 36 degree high, I was out looking for a picture of the day for this blog as I do every day.
A few days ago it was real nice and hot and sunny, so it was time to pull out the hummingbird feeder.Placing it in the apple tree in my front yard I was immediately hit with hummingbirds. So today I sat outside with my heavy winter coat on and my wood boots, sitting in my "spring" lounge chair waiting for a picture. I have to admit, that had I seen myself out on a porch freezing ass cold with boots and a winter coat taking pictures of hummingbirds I would have most definitely laughed at my self. LOL! But these are my pictures of the day along with my Watery Wednesday pictures.
After all it is food coloring, a bit of sugar and water that is in the feeder. LOL!!!

Watery Wednesday

Wow today was/is a beautiful. Actually sat out in the sun, and not to get warm but to actually get some color on my face and arms. For me in my little world, is about as close to heaven as it comes.
Walking around the pond I found "my" geese hiding place. I was rather impressed. I never could get to that part of the pond until today, and although I still was wearing my "mountain boots" and got them a little wet I could not care any less!

 

  

  

 And something else happened today.I think I saw (and took this picture of) a hummingbirds nest. I have always searched for one, only knowing they are quite small, I was shocked to see this right above my head when I was taking the pictures of "my geese"

So I sure would love it if a reader who may pass by here could tell me whether or not that is what kind of nest this is. I sure would appreciate it!
