A little background on why I named this blog what I did.

I should probably do a little explaining on my title of this blog. First my last name is White. Therefore I live in the "White House." Living in the "White House" makes me the 1st Lady. My physical address says I live in Westwood Ca. (not the one by Los Angeles) but a little mountain town in Northeastern Ca. However I really live in a section out of Westwood known as Pinetown. With all the joking going on between my friends, I inevitably became Pinetowns 1st Lady living in the "White House." With all that said, this is just going to be a more personal blog of my life here in Westwood/Pinetown. My family and friends being a big part of it.
Originally I really wanted to take a picture a day for one year and post it on this blog. Perhaps like a photo diary. My life though is quite quiet and perhaps is not photo worthy for a picture a day but I plan on trying. So why not hop in and take a ride with me through little mountain town U.S.A. You may just love it as much as I do!

All I know is they are purple

All I know is these are all over town. They are purple and they smell heavenly. I am assuming they are from the sage family but that is just an assumption. I see them in some peoples yards like they were purposely planted (like below)and I also see them growing wild.

If you ever do see these take the time to grab a whiff. It is sure worth it. Beautiful!!!

Flowers and Flags

Perhaps I am not done with "bling." As I was walking through town I noticed this very innovative way of using a little boat that perhaps does not float any more. LOL!!!
What do you think? I say it's nice and pretty!

Flowers and Flags. A nice touch.

A yard sale produces more flowers

5doors down from me a friend was having a yard sale. Walking down there to do a check it out thing brought me home with some pretty pictures of flowers she has in her yard.

Flowers and weeds

One half hour of sunshine found me taking pictures of the local weeds and flowers out in the fields.
Where is the sun?!?!?!???

Daisy's-shocking!!!!

Pretty whatever it is. This is actually a bush of some sort found in a neighbors yard.

And I wish I could have captured this whole poppie. It is the biggest and prettiest and most orange one I have ever seen up here!

Mellow Yellow Monday

It has been a very stormy looking day with out the storm, but the skies were awesome. Searching for the proverbial rainbow I was sure would show up, I settled for these flowers for Mellow Yellow Monday.
I don't know what they are other than pretty.

They sort of remind me of a wedding for some reason.

Purple everywhere

Purple was EVERYWHERE today in Pinetown. And it was beautiful!!!
The last 2 are weeds and I think they are gorgeous!

Apple Blossoms

Apple tree's and flowers are showing a bit of color. Actually on my street only one Apple tree has colors and this is it. We have one as most people do in their yard, so I guess it's a different kind of Apple.
Regardless it is very pretty on the eyes. Finally we are S-L-O-W-L-Y getting color in Pinetown!
Thank goodness for Apple Blossoms!

Macro Mode

On this mother's day while I was out walking I ran into these 3 types of little baby flowers. They looked perhaps like a couple of them could be ground cover. Taken with Macro Mode, I found that to be fun. I don't mess with my Macro Mode much. I think I will try to keep an eye out for items I can use it with!

Signs of spring

Overkill it may be called, quite frankly it makes no never mind to me. While other blogs have got to take and post pictures of the beauty of spring, here I sit on May 8th just beginning to be able to do so.So I am. First of the flower I posted yesterday that is just as beautiful today and one of my humming birds that are visiting my feeder. Yes I have named them all and this one's name is Flipper. I will explain w/pics one day soon. So for today I am enjoying my chance to post a bit of spring!

 Flipper

Flipper again
and now my flower. No I did not name it LOL!

A flower like no other

Iwas right!!!
Whoo hoo!
I woke up to this spectacular gift from mother nature this morning and I could not be happier!!!

I just can not believe there would be anyone that would not find this beautiful!
She is soooo pretty!

A bud like no other

Iam posting this "bud" from a cactus I have, yes right here in the mountains. I brought it down from my father's house in Orange County Ca. It has got to be about the ugliest cactus (or cactus family) that I own. But there is a time every year that this ugly duckiling produces the most SPECTACULAR flower!
I am banking on this happening by tommorrow, that is why I am posting this today.
I hope I am not wrong (by it being tommorrow) I guess we will see.

So this is my picture(s) of the day. The "before"

A little bit of spring has sprung

Alittle bit of spring has sprung. in Pinetown Ca. 96137

Mellow Yellow Mondays and real flowers, Wow!

MellowYellowBadge
This is going to sound a bit crazy, but I have been called worse! I have been waiting for the week where I could post a post on Mellow Yellow Mondays that were flowers, that were on that date. You see, where I live there have been no flowers yet showing their beauty. It has still been to cold and crappy. Day before yesterday I spotted these little flowers starting out. I had decided right then, that I was going to come back to this place today and see if all was still well and I could not only post some Yellow for Mellow Yellow Monday but that they would be flowers. I was lucky. Today the sun is shining bright yet the temperature here in the northern mountains of Ca. has not been above 38 degrees today. I still walked down the street to a neighbors yard and these little guys are still holding on. The fact that they are still here today is giving me some hope that spring may very well actually start to happen here where I live. Sooo many of you have been showing beautiful flowers now for a bit on Mellow Yellow Monday.I was jealous. But today! I get too!
And it feels good! LOL!!!

It seems like forever since I have seen flowers in person!

Snow Flowers

Again a day of non stop rain. Then a half an hour of snow, big thick wet snow. So what's a girl to do? Go out and take pictures of "Snow Flowers"

I messed around on Picasso with this one and softened the outside perimeter

View Larger Map This is where I live. To the right of Westwood barely visible is the little section I live in called Pinetown. We have probably 150 to 200 people for our population. Westwood on the other hand is HUGE by comparison with a population of around 2000!
