A little background on why I named this blog what I did.

I should probably do a little explaining on my title of this blog. First my last name is White. Therefore I live in the "White House." Living in the "White House" makes me the 1st Lady. My physical address says I live in Westwood Ca. (not the one by Los Angeles) but a little mountain town in Northeastern Ca. However I really live in a section out of Westwood known as Pinetown. With all the joking going on between my friends, I inevitably became Pinetowns 1st Lady living in the "White House." With all that said, this is just going to be a more personal blog of my life here in Westwood/Pinetown. My family and friends being a big part of it.
Originally I really wanted to take a picture a day for one year and post it on this blog. Perhaps like a photo diary. My life though is quite quiet and perhaps is not photo worthy for a picture a day but I plan on trying. So why not hop in and take a ride with me through little mountain town U.S.A. You may just love it as much as I do!

Topaz Lodge

Topopaz Lake. Last stop till we get to Reno Nevada and my hubby should be waiting to pick me up. One of those stops that you just HAVE to take, yet feel bad for asking the driver to stop because you really are close to your destination.

This was a casino and restaurant and we went inside to use their facilities. (that sounded weird, like I was going to use a tree, LOL!!!)
Anyway this is looking down from the front door.
Coming down the steps. Ya know? this is really pretty here.

A little farther down the stairs

Beautiful!!!

Friends, Yarn and the Atlantis Hotel

Going down to southern Ca. was really a last minute trip. So much that I had forgot to write about here until later which can be seen in my previous post. Since I was not planning on even posting for the few days I was gone, I was not using that thought process. However I never leave home without my camera and for most days took pictures. So I thought I would go ahead and post what happened in my life these last ten days (or close to it) even though I was not in Lassen County.

My girlfriend Elizabeth drove me to Reno Nevada late Saturday night and we had a room at the Atlantis Hotel. The next day November 30th we walked across the street to Joannes, a yarn store and did a bit of yarn shopping. We are both avid lovers of crochet and it was quite nice to go there (Joannes) with someone that has the same passion. When we walked in I tried to take some pictures of this beautiful fountain and for the most part I was unable to capture it the way I wanted.

However it was much more simple when you add a true friend in the picture. So this is Elizabeth with her beautiful smile. Kinda makes you forget about the fountain. Her husband Robert was in the room while we enjoyed girl time.

Then a cocktail waitress walked by and asked if I would like her to take a picture of the both of us. Of course I said yes. She snapped this picture and got away from me so quick I could not even get her name yet alone tip her like I would have liked to had done.

Road Trip from Reno Nevada towards home Day 49

On the way home from Reno today I thought I would take some pictures of the signs along 395 North. This is the highway we have to take to get home. Although this is not Lassen County it is on it's way there. These were taken through the the car window, so I also was trying out for the hell of it what my camera can do with pictures through the window doing 65 miles an hour. The electronic window on the passenger side recently quit working. No more can I roll down the window. This is also the first trip we have took since the window broke. And it really SUCKS!!!

But it could be soooo much worse! It could have got stuck in the down position. Now THAT would have been screwed, driving with the wind in your face no matter what the weather.
Leaving Reno Nevada it is all desert
This is the beginning of overlooking Sparks Nevada,

One can see why this area is called Red Rock!

At this point you have to go through the inspection station before you get back into the state of California

Birthday's, Anniversary's and Reno Nevada Day 46

Finding out that I was going to Reno approximately 5 hours before I took these pictures from our room out the windows (that's why you see all the glare) of the Atlantis Hotel.
We are here and I guess are going to be here through Monday in the celebration of my husband Dave's birthday which is the 19th and our wedding anniversary which is also the 19th of October.

Cory, Darins friend and now mine

This is a man named Cory who is a friend of our renter Darin, that lives here. I have met Cory before but just long enough to be introduced. He lives in Reno Nevada now, and had come back to Westwood to do a little visiting. Darin and him I guess go way back and are great friends. And Cory came here to do a little visiting. I am very glad I got to meet Cory better. He is one hell of a nice guy with a very jovial personality. I decided to go ahead and have his pictures be my pictures for the day. If this really goes to a year I am sure I will be glad I did. Plus I can also say pretty honestly that I met someone new today, and that's always a good thing, Right?

Atlantis Hotel, Reno Nevada

Dave and I are always getting offers from the Atlantis Hotel in Reno Nevada. This weekend we took them up on such an offer. We stayed there Friday night and Saturday night, September 5th and 6th.
I took these pictures from our room on the 18th floor. The picture above is looking out our window east.

This picture really gives you an idea how high we were. This is looking down on their outdoor pool. The building on the upper left is the building that holds the indoor pool. As far down as it looks, these pools are not even ground level. They are on the 3rd floor!

View Larger Map This is where I live. To the right of Westwood barely visible is the little section I live in called Pinetown. We have probably 150 to 200 people for our population. Westwood on the other hand is HUGE by comparison with a population of around 2000!
