A little background on why I named this blog what I did.

I should probably do a little explaining on my title of this blog. First my last name is White. Therefore I live in the "White House." Living in the "White House" makes me the 1st Lady. My physical address says I live in Westwood Ca. (not the one by Los Angeles) but a little mountain town in Northeastern Ca. However I really live in a section out of Westwood known as Pinetown. With all the joking going on between my friends, I inevitably became Pinetowns 1st Lady living in the "White House." With all that said, this is just going to be a more personal blog of my life here in Westwood/Pinetown. My family and friends being a big part of it.
Originally I really wanted to take a picture a day for one year and post it on this blog. Perhaps like a photo diary. My life though is quite quiet and perhaps is not photo worthy for a picture a day but I plan on trying. So why not hop in and take a ride with me through little mountain town U.S.A. You may just love it as much as I do!

The skies are about to open

Athunder and lightning storm is coming our way tonight and tomorrow and I just could not believe the awesome skies this evening. It's been awhile since I have seen any this pretty. Sooo My picture(s) of the day is stormy skies.

This is in my backyard overlooking Westwood, Ca. 96137

Is that sooo gorgeous or what????

Too beautiful!!!

Chucks Railroad Room

Chuck's Railroad Room is the only bar in town (Westwood). It hosts all sorts of events like our local Chili cook-off, food for Thanksgiving, Christmas etc. As you can see by the building it is quite large. I bet we could fit the whole population of Westwood inside there along with their back yard. LOL!!!

Today when I was walking back home from Young's (our store) I noticed for the 1st time since Chuck's has been open there was not one single car or truck out front. I decided this would be the day to show ya all Chuck's. I have it in this blog other times but you can't see the building because there are too many people or cars out front. Located on the corner of Ash and Fourth st. It is definitely "centrally located" LOL! As you can see there is a storm brewing, and by the time I got home it had just started raining. I love summer storms, just not the lightning due to our mountains and fires because of lightning strikes.

Head on

Beautiful lawn eh?

The porch out front for smokers. In California there is no smoking in restaurants or bars.

On Ash street heading towards the highway (or in my case home, LOL!)

Gloomy skies

Gloomy skies are all I see over "my mountain" and it just is not letting up. The clouds were so close this evening, I swear I could have touched them.
I REALLY need some sun in my life right now. When I grew up in southern Ca. this was called June gloom, but it is not like this normally here where I live now. I'm done with it. The jokes over!
Let's see some sun!!!

So here's a couple drips, and believe me when I say we really need this rain and I got soaking wet just taking these!
PEACE!!!
Its pouring big drips!

The calm before the storm

The calm before the storm. Overlooking the town of Westwood this evening before sunset. We are suppose to get hit tonight with a storm.

Crisp, Clean,Clear and Cold

Crisp, Clean, Clear, Cold and absolutely beautiful is what I found today on my daily walk. It is days like these that remind me that a local Wal-Mart, and several dozen grocery stores, and a place to simply go to , to buy some clothes just does not seem to rank that high in the things that matter to me in my small life. This is what matters. I can never (and obviously never will) get tired of walking down the street and seeing this!
God's country

Not so inviting this time!

Today as I was walking my dogs I came across a spot where I had taken a picture before. I decided to repost it because of the stark contrast from the first one . I entitled it A forgotton tree house and you can click on that here.It blows my mind sometimes what a couple months can make. The first set of pictures were so pretty with all the colors and yet today it is almost foreboding.

Between the dark and gloomy sky and the leafless trees, it sure does not look like the same place I had wrote about before!

Wizard of Oz and a raspberry bush

Funny how  the exact thing I wrote about yesterday on all of the things around you that you just may be to busy to notice happened to me this morning. The wind started whipping up and the skies were getting dark, so camera in hand, I ventured back out to the mill pond with "bird house intentions" once again. A lone tree I am destined on this walk to see was exceptionally breathtaking to me today and I had to stop and take a picture of  its spendor in front of the darkening looming sky approaching.

Ever since I was a little girl I would call weather like this Wizard of Oz weather, as that is what the whipping winds and leaves spinning up off the ground reminds me of.

As I move the camera to the left you can see over the mill pond how the clouds are just starting to get over our mountains.

But this was what I was referring to above. I actually passed this, my raspberry  bush walking out towards the mill pond, for the yet un-taken bird house pictures.

The sun is blue behind this bush which is finding it's way up our utility pole. The colors all so vibrant. Like two different worlds all in a couple steps. Yet just a 180 degrees from the darkness of the impending storm.
Did I miss this beauty just two days ago? I bet I did!

View Larger Map This is where I live. To the right of Westwood barely visible is the little section I live in called Pinetown. We have probably 150 to 200 people for our population. Westwood on the other hand is HUGE by comparison with a population of around 2000!
