A little background on why I named this blog what I did.

I should probably do a little explaining on my title of this blog. First my last name is White. Therefore I live in the "White House." Living in the "White House" makes me the 1st Lady. My physical address says I live in Westwood Ca. (not the one by Los Angeles) but a little mountain town in Northeastern Ca. However I really live in a section out of Westwood known as Pinetown. With all the joking going on between my friends, I inevitably became Pinetowns 1st Lady living in the "White House." With all that said, this is just going to be a more personal blog of my life here in Westwood/Pinetown. My family and friends being a big part of it.
Originally I really wanted to take a picture a day for one year and post it on this blog. Perhaps like a photo diary. My life though is quite quiet and perhaps is not photo worthy for a picture a day but I plan on trying. So why not hop in and take a ride with me through little mountain town U.S.A. You may just love it as much as I do!

Hwy 395 south

Friday night April 10th I went to my son Travis and my grandson Jeremiah Lee's home to spend the night as we were going to leave around 4 or 5 A.M. headed towards sunny southern Ca. to do some visiting. As life goes sometimes, little Jeremiah was not feeling well all night and we did not even leave for So. Ca. until 8 A.M.
It had been years since my son Travis had taken 395 south to so. Ca. and since I myself had took that road just this past December for the first time in a gazillion years and loved it so we decided to drive that way. (usually we either take Hwy. 5 or the 99 interstate.) These are my picture(s) of the day travelling Hwy 395 south.

A rest area we stopped at. I am ashamed to say I can not remember the name but I do know it had a story posted about the area and it was speaking of Walker Lake. That's the reason I remember as there is a Walker Lake just 4 miles from my home here in Pinetown.

I can not begin to name all the overwhelmingly beautiful mountains that we drove right next too!

Including Mt Whitney the highest Mountain in California. This is not it though.
Beautiful eh?

This tree was in front of a little restaurant out in the middle of nowhere. We had not passed a gas station nor a restaurant for miles and a restroom became needed by one of us. (No I am not going to say who! LOL!!!) and when approached we were refused unless we were a customer or if we wanted to pay $1.00 for supplies! I could not believe this happened, but I guess in the middle of nowhere they really do have you by the you no whats!

This little barn/shed was directly across the street.

I just so happened to have stopped at this same place in December when I got a ride down there from a friend of mine.

When the owner of this place saw me taking pictures, and then I went in to make a purchase, he started talking to me. He was so extremely nice. I told him what I was doing, (taking this picture for this blog) and he asked for the name of it and of course I gave it to him He said I was more than welcome to post these pictures. He gave me a bit of a history lesson on this area and place and told me it was actually named after Johannesburg South Africa, which I thought was quite interesting.

Don't you just LOVE 395? We used to drive up north when our son was at UC Davis, and, you are right...either 5 or 99 was how we went until one time I told hubby, "Wouldn't you like to drive up 395 and see the Sierras?" Now, we travel it frequently. So pretty! Yeah...I hear 'ya about the lack of...er...."restroom facilities"!!! Did you stop in Bishop at Schlotsky's Bakery? DO! The sandwiches are delicious! There's a nice park right across the street, too! I am enjoying your trip to So. Calif and can't wait for the next installment!

Howdy Hi!
I would love to hear what you have to say. Why not leave me a comment?

View Larger Map This is where I live. To the right of Westwood barely visible is the little section I live in called Pinetown. We have probably 150 to 200 people for our population. Westwood on the other hand is HUGE by comparison with a population of around 2000!
