A little background on why I named this blog what I did.

I should probably do a little explaining on my title of this blog. First my last name is White. Therefore I live in the "White House." Living in the "White House" makes me the 1st Lady. My physical address says I live in Westwood Ca. (not the one by Los Angeles) but a little mountain town in Northeastern Ca. However I really live in a section out of Westwood known as Pinetown. With all the joking going on between my friends, I inevitably became Pinetowns 1st Lady living in the "White House." With all that said, this is just going to be a more personal blog of my life here in Westwood/Pinetown. My family and friends being a big part of it.
Originally I really wanted to take a picture a day for one year and post it on this blog. Perhaps like a photo diary. My life though is quite quiet and perhaps is not photo worthy for a picture a day but I plan on trying. So why not hop in and take a ride with me through little mountain town U.S.A. You may just love it as much as I do!

The Caboose

Another dark and gloomy day in this part of Lassen County. Not a whole lot of pretty about it. The wind was decent , so it was a bit easier to go out and take a walk. (I hate bitter cold wind, especially when walking on snow lined streets!)
What a sissy la-la for a mountain girl huh?
Anyhoo I took my walk expecting to only go around Pinetown, but I found myself in Westwood and decided to take a picture of the" Caboose."

The Caboose has been sitting on the corner of Westwoods main drag (LOL!!!) Birch and Fourth St across the street from Young's Market for quite awhile. If I recall right it was a gift shop at one time. I absolutely LOVE trains, (espescially Cabbose's .I find it a little odd that I do not remember more about this caboose. But anyway, it sits on the corner there with a For rent sign in the window of the house looking part. Seems sad to me that it is sitting there empty, but a lot of Westwood is becoming empty. I often wonder what will become of this place in just 10 years let alone 20.

Just recently we had the only pharmacy close, which to me was an awful thing to happen. With as many senior citizens and then new mom's with babies, it's a true tragedy that in order to get medication you have to drive either 13 miles to Chester, Ca. or 21 miles to Susanville, Ca. I do not see Westwood having a promising future anymore. This is horribly sad to me.

And boy did I get off the track on this post. Soooo back on the track with my picture(s) of the day,

The "Caboose"

Howdy Hi!
I would love to hear what you have to say. Why not leave me a comment?

View Larger Map This is where I live. To the right of Westwood barely visible is the little section I live in called Pinetown. We have probably 150 to 200 people for our population. Westwood on the other hand is HUGE by comparison with a population of around 2000!
